Dr. Gilman has been involved with the Plastic Surgery Section at the University of Michigan for most of the time since his residency here. He has returned many times as a guest lecturer and has been the featured speaker for both the Reed O Dingman and the William C Grabb endowed lectureships. He has also been the Keynote Speaker at the bi-annual Michigan Academy of Plastic Surgeons on Mackinac Island.
Robert H. Gilman, MD, DMD completed his residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Michigan in 1982. He has been in private practice in Wellesley, Massachusetts for 31 years and has taught in the Harvard Combined Residency Training Program in Plastic Surgery for the last 15 years. He was a Clinical Instructor in Plastic Surgery at the Harvard Medical School. He earned his MD at Boston University School of Medicine and earned his Dental degree, DMD, at Boston University School of Dentistry. He trained in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in the Combined ENT Residency Program at Boston University and Tufts University. He is diplomat of both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Gilman has led a Pediatric Reconstructive team to Colombia, South America for the last 18 years and has taken 17 Michigan residents with him over the years where he mentors them as the team provides surgical correction of deformities of the face, such as cleft lip and palate, the body, such as burn scar contractures and the Hand, such as congenital and acquired deformities. Through the University of Michigan President’s initiative and with the help of grateful donors, he has established the Robert H. Gilman, MD Fund for International Travel, which provides financial assistance to plastic surgery residents enabling them to have the experience of international medical mission work. Dr. Gilman is a member of numerous national and state plastic surgery societies as well as a member of the board of trustees at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York.
Clinical Specialization: In both his private practice and in his clinical teaching at Harvard, Dr. Gilman has focused on all aspects of cosmetic surgery. In particular he has an interest in rhinoplasty and in facial rejuvenation procedures both non-invasive and invasive. He also focuses on post pregnancy abdominal and breast surgery, aesthetic breast enlargement, body sculpturing by liposuction and fat transfer. He is joining the Michigan Plastic Surgery faculty to continue to provide the highest quality of Plastic Surgical care for patients and continue the tradition of excellence in Plastic Surgery training for residents.

Moorthy is a consultant oral & maxillofacial surgeon based at the Regional Maxillofacial Surgery Unit, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Royal Hospital for Children (Formerly known as Southern General Hospital & Yorkhill Hospital respectively) Glasgow.
Moorthy completed his Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship in the UK and he has worked with several eminent maxillofacial & plastic surgeons at London, North Wales, Swansea & Cambridge. He has travelled overseas for advanced facial surgery training (Germany & USA)
During his time as a ‘higher surgical trainee’, he has been exposed to the full breadth of Cranio-facial, head & neck surgeries. This included oral/skin cancer removal, reconstruction facial trauma, facial deformity correction, microvascular surgeries of face/neck, facial cosmetic surgeries, jaw joint surgeries & implantology. Moorthy is a dually qualified (both Dentistry & Medicine) & registered specialist at the GMC & GDC, UK.
Moorthy currently works as a consultant surgeon with sub-speciality interest in Craniofacial, TMJ & Facial deformity surgeries at Glasgow. He is very much interested in 3D technology and innovative ways to improve the care pathway for his patients.

Dr Deepa Tilak has been working in the field of psychological trauma encompassing both acute and chronic stress reactions, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder since 2004 in consultant capacity through her work at the Edinburgh Traumatic Stress Centre (formerly Rivers Centre).
She has worked to set up and run a rapid post-incident assessment service for the emergency services – Lothian Fire and Police Service later widened to include Borders and Fife.
Her clinical work has incorporated the use of Trauma-Focused CBT as well as other evidence-based psychological treatment such as EMDR, Prolonged Exposure and more recently Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for the treatment of Complex Trauma.
Since her years as a trainee psychiatrist, she has had an interest in the assessment and management of psychological trauma and has been providing assessments and medico-legal reports in the field since 2000.
She has also taught medical students, psychiatric trainees and speciality trainees in psychotherapy since 2004, and regularly teach and hold workshops on the MRCPsych course in Edinburgh as well as in Tayside. In the past, she has taught and offered supervision on the West of Scotland CBT Course.
In addition, she has worked with the Refugee Council and Asylum Seekers who present with more complex problems including a history of displacement and torture
Since 2009, when she moved to Tayside from Lothian to broaden her clinical experience, she has worked also with newer models for chronic depression using CBT as well as mindfulness and an evolving model for Chronic Depression – CBASP, which is being evaluated for the first time in the UK in her department.
She also, see a fair number of clients for purposes of medical reports. She finds the work rewarding as apart from having the opportunity to act as an expert witness, it allows her to maintain an interest in all the related aspects of medicine, not just psychiatry or psychotherapy which are her areas of expertise.
She is on the tutors' committee for psychiatric trainees in Tayside and is responsible for the psychotherapy component of their training. She is an educational supervisor to trainees in her department and offers supervision and teaching to all junior doctors including psychiatric trainees as well as GP trainees.
